O'Hern to have thumb surgery

Australian golfer Nick O'Hern will miss Australia's major tournaments this summer after opting to undergo surgery on his thumb.

The former world number 16 was due to play in next week's Australian Masters at Huntingdale.

The Western Australian will have surgery next Tuesday and hopes to return to the US Tour early next year.
