Decision due on Kings Cross hoon ban

Posted May 10, 2010 08:35:00

The Sydney City Council will decide tonight if it will approve permanent weekend road closures to stop car hoons around Potts Point and Kings Cross.

Last summer traffic calming measures were put in place from 11:00pm to 3:00am every weekend to stop anti-social driver behaviour disrupting the heritage-listed residential area.

Proposals to stop drag racing in the area include blocking Cowper Wharf Road outside Harry's Cafe de Wheels, and erecting 'no-turn' signs into Darlinghurst Road off Bayswater Road.

The Council will decide whether to introduce the measures on a permanent basis at its full council meeting tonight.
