WARNING FOR MINOR FLOODING FOR THE UPPER ONKAPARINGA RIVER Issued at 11:50 am on Saturday, 4 September 2010
1. FLOOD WARNING : Rain continues to fall in the Onkapringa Catchment, with falls up to 11 mm recorded in the last 6 hours. Further rainfall of 15-30 mm is forecast to fall during Saturday. River heights are now below minor flood level however the river in currently rising at Charleston and Woodside. Further stream rises exceeding minor flood levels between Woodside and Verdun are possible with forecast rainfall.
Motorists are advised to avoid flooded road crossings. People are advised to keep away from deep and fast-flowing water.
The situation will continue to be monitored and the next warning will be issued by 6 pm Saturday.

WARNING FOR MINOR FLOODING FOR THE UPPER TORRENS RIVER Issued at 11:35 am on Saturday, 4 September 2010
1. FLOOD WARNING : Rain continues to fall in the Torrens River catchment, with falls of up to 13 mm recorded in the last 6 hours. Further rainfall of 15-30 mm is forecast to fall during Saturday. River heights at Birdwood and Gumeracha Weir are now below minor flood level and are steady. Further stream rises exceeding minor flood level are possible with forecast rainfall.
Kangaroo Creek reservoir is full and overflowing and will continue to overflow throughout the weekend. Increased flows are expected on the River Torrens downstream of the reservoir and through the city of Adelaide, however levels are NOT expected to exceed minor flood level.
Motorists are advised to avoid flooded road crossings. People are advised to keep away from deep and fast-flowing water.
The situation will continue to be monitored and the next warning will be issued by 6 pm Saturday.

1. FLOOD WARNING : Rain continues to fall in the upper Gawler catchment, with falls up to 9 mm in the last 6 hours. Further rainfall of 15-30 mm is forecast to fall during Saturday. Minor flood levels in the North Para River may be reached during Saturday dependant on rainfall amounts.
Motorists are advised to avoid flooded road crossings. People are advised to keep away from deep and fast-flowing water.
The situation will continue to be monitored and the next warning will be issued by 6 pm Saturday.

TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS and LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS For people in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of the West Coast, Northwest Pastoral and Northeast Pastoral districts.
Issued at 10:37 am Saturday, 4 September 2010.
A deep low pressure system with a centre near Cape Borda and another west of Robe is moving slowly southeast. The low centre west of Robe is still deepening.
Strong to gale force west to southwest winds, averaging 50-70 km/h with gusts of 90-100 km/h, are expected in the warning area west and north of Adelaide during the next few hours. These winds will spread further east and south over the rest of the warning area this afternoon.
Locally destructive winds, with gusts in excess of 120 km/h are possible over high ground and from later this afternoon along the South East coast.
Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Maitland, Jamestown, Clare and the Adelaide area.
Winds of 60-65 km/h have been reported from Coles Point, and at Peterborough and Yunta.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees; * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
The next warning is due to be issued by 1:05 pm.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 215. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

TOP PRIORITY Coastal Waters Wind Warning For all South Australian Coastal Waters. Issued at 10:15 am CST on Saturday 4 September 2010
Synoptic situation a low 990 hPa south of Kangaroo Island was intensifying and moving southeast, expected to move to the west of Robe this afternoon then towards Bass Strait during the evening.
Storm Force Wind Warning For the South East Coast NE/NW winds 20/25 knots will turn S/SW 40/50 knots from about midday. Winds will ease to 30/40 knots from the west during the evening, then below 34 knots early on Sunday. Seas rising to 4 to 6 m. Swell: SW 2.5 to 3.5 m.
Gale Warning For the West Coast south of Elliston, Gulf Waters and the South Central Coast N/NW winds 15/20 knots turning NW/W 20/30 knots ahead of a SW/S change 30/40 knots extending eastwards throughout the South Central Coast and Gulf Waters by around midday then over the South East Coast during the afternoon. Winds will ease to 20/30 knots on the West Coast this afternoon, the South Central Coast and Gulf Waters during this evening and the South East Coast early Sunday morning. Winds easing further to below 26 knots on the West Coast this afternoon and evening, then throughout all coasts Sunday morning. Sea: 2 to 3 m, rising to 3 to 4.5 m. Swell: SW 2 to 3 m on exposed coasts.
Strong Wind Warning For the Far West Coast and the West Coast north and west of Elliston. SE/SW winds 20/30 knots, easing to below 26 knots this afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 m abating to 1.5 to 2.5 m by Saturday evening. SW/S swell 1 to 2 m.
The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am CST.
Please be aware Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning.
Synoptic Situation: A deep low is expected to develop in the far northwest of the State today and move southeast to be over the far southeast of the State Saturday morning. An associated trough of low pressure will move through the Northeast Pastoral during today and on Saturday morning.
Rainfall: Forecast: Areas of rain with scattered thunderstorms with some heavy falls are occurring over the Northeast Pastoral and Flinders today, will contract east and clear during Saturday. Falls of 20-40 mm with some heavy falls of 40-80 mm are expected in this period.
Areas of rain with thunderstorms are forecast over Mid North and Mount Lofty Ranges today and early Saturday morning with scattered showers to follow. Falls of 40-80 mm are possible in this period.
Flood Risk: There is potential for flooding in the Northeast Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North and Mount Lofty Ranges today and on Saturday. People should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings.
